TOGETHER WE ARE’ is the first part of a series of five tracks, within ‘MATER’ OF LIFE (“song of many songs” Musical story).
Written between May and December 2020, ‘Mater of Life’ is inspired by “Soul melody riddim”, and current social, political and health crises around the world. The beat has travelled from Germany to Wales to France and back to UK.
‘Mater’ means mother in Latin, and like a mother music feeds and nurtures the Soul of the people. We want and need it to be played LIVE in all the corners of cities streets, towns and countryside fields AGAIN!
The track is a call to artists in the music industry and beyond, to take part creating a musical story. We need LIVE MUSIC to be brought back into balance in our society.
Setondji Spirit made his debut in the Reggae show business as a backing vocalist and performing with his brother Joe Pilgrim (French Reggae artist), and Rhythm guitar and backing vocals in the early beginnings of The Wise Bloods (UK based Soul Reggae band).
A thriving lead singer, Setondji Spirit made it to the finals of Britain’s Got Reggae 2019 (YouTube link). His live collaborations include as a Sing Jay ‘DJ Inspirit’ with Tessa (The Slits) at O2 Islington (London) and Soft Wax (Deptford Dub Club).
